What is a Cyber Range Hub?

The Cyber Hub at WMCAT is the state’s 5th Cyber Range Hub, powered by Merit Networks.

A Cyber Range Hub is a magnet site for a community to bring people, schools, and employers together to be part of the cybersecurity ecosystem. Hub sites are used to host events, practice exercises, and certification classes. Businesses can also access virtual infrastructure for product development, testing, and demonstration.

Cyber Range Hubs operate as physical extensions of the Michigan Cyber Range — the largest unclassified, network-accessible cybersecurity training platform in the nation, powered by Merit Networks. The Michigan Cyber Range is the only unclassified cyber range authorized by US Cyber Command to participate in international exercises.

Cyber Range Hubs aim to establish Michigan as the national epicenter for security training and workforce development by developing a strong workforce that can detect, prevent, and mitigate cyber attacks. Hubs offer more than forty industry-recognized certifications aimed at qualifying individuals for positions and contracts in cybersecurity fields.

There are a select number of Cyber Range Hubs across the state, working together to close the cyber security skills gap in Michigan and across the country.
