Cybersecurity Law and Risk in 2019: In-house vs. Outside Counsel Perspectives
WMCSC Quarterly Meeting
April 24th, 2019
Sneden Center, Meeting Rooms 1,2 & 3
6191 Kraft Ave SE Grand Rapids, MI 49512
WMCSC presents both in-house and outside counsel perspectives on the state of cybersecurity law and how to mitigate risk in this always-changing environment.
In January of 2018, the WMCSC invited Jason Crow, a CIPP-US certified Cybersecurity attorney, to give a “State of the Unions” presentation addressing the latest developments in Cybersecurity law in the United States and the EU. During that interactive and lively session, we discussed the practical implications of state, federal, and international laws on the everyday work of Cybersecurity professionals. We fondly remember that cold day in January 2018 when GDPR was still months away from going into effect and the California Consumer Privacy Act was only a wealthy real estate developer’s ballot initiative.
This month, WMCSC continues the conversation about GDPR, CCPA, and other developments in Cybersecurity law (including Michigan’s new privacy and data security law) and how these changes impact your work. Come have fun and learn the latest tips and tricks from the experts, including:
- Jason Crow and Jeff Muth (Outside Cyber Counsel at Miller Johnson),
- Leah Voigt (In-house Cyber Counsel at Spectrum Health), and
- Matt DeKoekkoek (In-house Cyber Counsel at Steelcase).
